Blas Lago Clinic
by Kassie McKerras
Blas Lago’s ever increasing popularity here in WA has made his dressage and long reining clinics a resounding success, so much so that they have now been locked in for every 6-8 weeks. Bringing with him over 400 years of family history in dressage and horse training, his patient, straight forward and clear approach to riding and training is gaining him new fans each time he returns to our state. Blas was one of Australia’s top five Grand Prix riders, until a recent accident that has kept him out of the saddle for a while. As an instructor at the prestigious El Cabello in its hey day, it enabled him to show his talent for Spanish schooling and training. Regarded as a gentleman of the top show circuit and always an absolute pleasure to host. His skills in long reining are second to none, demonstrating to riders options to further their schooling. It also enables green horses to participate in clinics such as this, as they may not be ready under saddle.
Lessons are ridden or long rein or a combination of both and are $175 for non Trakehners Australia members and $165 for TA members. Trakehners Australia is also pleased to offer clinic-only memberships for $30 per year to gain access to the cheaper membership rate. Fence sitters are always welcome, encouraged and free. With the variety of lessons available at these clinics, we encourage riders to come and join our friendly clinic atmosphere. Trakehners Australia is proud to be able to support the local horse community by gaining access to this wonderful coach who is able to teach all levels.
