Pony Club Australia The Pony Club Association of WA recently played host to the 2013 Pony Club Australia National Championships at the State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon. The first Pony Club National Championships were held in NSW in 1995 with the idea to create an event reminiscent of the Olympic Games with riders living in village style accommodation for the week and eating and living together as a team. This prestigious event showcased the talents of the top pony club athletes and their mounts from all States in the equestrian disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Showjumping and Prince Philip Mounted Games. Also, in conjunction with the National Championships a National Invitational Tetrathlon was held in a bid to introduce this popular PCAWA discipline to our other states. Pony Club members from Qld, SA, NSW, NT, and Victoria travelled to the event bringing their own horses with them, which is a requirement for Pony Club competition. Dispensation was given to the Tasmanian Games Team who competed on borrowed ponies, loaned by the generous WA equine community. A full schedule of competition was held over the 6 days of the event concluding with mounted presentations on the final afternoon. The first day of competition commenced with Trot Up followed by Senior and Junior Warm Up Dressage and Showjumping Competition. The Tetrathlon competitors participated in the running phase of their competition and the Tasmanian Games Team had the day to get to know their borrowed ponies a little. Day 2 of competition included Warm Up Competition for Eventing Showjumping and PPMG. The Showjumping National Championships
