Whether it’s back-to-school, the new TV lineup or a renewed focus on projects, it is a time for fresh starts. Real estate and mortgage brokerage are no exception to this rule, with a host of new developments marking the start of the new season. This is undeniable evidence that the profession is alive! You will recall that at the Real Estate Summit, back in February 2012, we began a reflection process on our profession, which led to the development of several strategic directions. From licence maintenance rate to mandatory basic training, continuing education and the return of the Think about it advertising campaign, your Profession Broker is packed with the latest news, along with some useful reminders for brokers. We strongly encourage you to make use of this valuable information in your professional practice: after all, Profession Broker is a working tool designed with you in mind! We hope you enjoy reading this issue and wish you a very successful new season! P.S.: In the December issue of Profession Broker, we will introduce the new members of the OACIQ Board of Directors. Stay tuned! Advertising Campaign R a r e por t c a rd! A NOTE OF CAUTION Profession Broker is a publication for real estate professionals, licence holders of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ). It covers various topics related to the application of the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations, including legal and ethical issues related to the practice of real estate brokerage and the real estate market. Any advertising appearing in this publication is intended for real estate brokerage professionals and does not in any way reflect the opinions, positions or actions of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec, whose primary mission under the law is the protection of the public. Following the campaign A real estate broker is a skilled professional backed by a solid network, the OACIQ came back in force in February 2013 with the campaign Because every real estate transaction is unique. DISCLOSURES A couple wonders: Should we declare this or not? To resolve this issue, the broker emphasizes his advisory role by reassuring them: We must be transparent. THE CONCEPT Developing the Think about it notion in the public’s mind by showing real estate transaction situations. The same broker is back to stage, this time to support and advise his clients, showing that his competence is an essential added value in any transaction. As evidenced, among other things, by the two TV commercials featuring the skills of a broker and shedding light on some of the issues that make every real estate transaction is unique. THE CONDITIONS There is excitement in the air: a couple has two promises to purchase on the table. Which one should they choose? On the one hand, there is price, and on the other, conditions. This is where the broker comes in, reminding the couple that conditions can make a big difference. To measure the effectiveness of this campaign, a survey was conducted by SCOR firm with 755 Quebecers aged 18 to 64 years. The OACIQ presents the results in the form of an advertising bulletin on the following page.
