Control room We manage factors influencing use of the asset centrally and respond to changes. Feasibility Is the asset going to be viable? We use our knowledge to decide. Preliminary design We draw up a high-level design, based on the requirements of the customer and the public. Statutory process Once this is agreed, we make sure we have covered all the legal and governance requirements. Detailed design We produce a full design, based on our knowledge of the precise needs of our customer and the people who will use the asset. Procurement We identify a supply chain to make sure we get the best value for every pound our customers spend on developing an asset. Construction management We build the asset following the agreed plan, scope and budget. Aftercare We manage the asset using our knowledge of its construction and design, making sure it stays in good condition. Inventory We make sure we understand what the asset is worth. Value We assess what it could potentially be worth. Inspection We look at its current condition. Testing and assessment We test the asset’s performance to see if it could be improved. Performance and management We consider the factors that might stop the asset from giving the best performance. Maintenance and intervention We take the steps necessary to make sure that the asset performs at its best.
