Our Approach We work with a range of public and regulated sector customers and we ensure that we exceed expectations through our ‘Listen, Define, Solve, Deliver’ approach. Listen We always aim to develop and maintain long term, productive relationships with our customers. Whether it be forming a relationship with a new customer or enhancing an existing one, we will start by spending time really listening to our customers and understanding their requirements. Our aim is to fully comprehend the long and short term objectives as well as the dynamics of the communities involved. Because we already operate in almost every area of the UK, in many circumstances we will already have first-hand experience of the communities involved. This allows us to build and develop relationships through local engagement and consultation and to understand views and opinions on how an asset should be used and maintained. Solve Once we have defined the best approach, we will then draw on our proven experience and knowledge to determine the best way to deliver services. We have a proven track record across a broad range of services and assets and we therefore know how to work with the public and plan services to minimise the energy demands of the asset, make sure it is used as safely as possible or drive behavioural change to enhance the overall user experience. Equally our financial stability and the support provided by our parent company Ferrovial ensures we have the funds to invest for our customers and unlock the wider social value within the services we provide. Define Deliver Once we have understood what our customers want to achieve, we then embark on defining the right approach to help accomplish their objectives. This is where we apply our asset management capability. If approached properly, a large proportion of the cost of an asset is determined at the design stage. Amey is unique because we offer highly expert asset management, consultancy and design services, as well as tried and tested frontline service delivery. By joining these up, we make sure that our solutions are developed and delivered with long term maintenance and delivery in mind. It means we are also able to dramatically reduce the whole life cost of any asset and ensure that we scope the solution that best delivers to the project objectives outlined by our customers. Our unique approach to asset management is one of the things that sets us apart from our competitors. Our strength lies in our understanding of the whole process of managing an asset and our ability to deliver a seamless, integrated service to our customers. It allows us to explore all of the options that will make assets work better for longer and ultimately help to save customers money. Our 21,000 employees are each experts in service delivery. We invest in our people, equipping them with the necessary skills and appropriate tools to deliver the wide range of services which we offer. We also prioritise the sharing of knowledge and experience across our business to enable us to provide our customers with the benefits we can derive from economies of scale and the sharing of best practice. For example, as we operate in almost every area of the UK, it is likely we will already have strong relationships with local communities and will have experience of regional priorities, so we can help our customers decide the best approach to service delivery. 4
