The Shorecrest Endowment
Unlike Annual Fund contributions, which are designated for current needs in the immediate fiscal year, endowment gifts build
and secure the future financial stability of Shorecrest.
Endowment Totals as of June 30, 2013
The Mosby Family Ancillary Fund $143,000
Established in 2006 by Glenn and Dav Mosby, The Mosby Family Ancillary
Fund is an endowment that was established to provide funding for
non-tuition based expenses to students receiving financial aid in the Upper
Division at Shorecrest. In creating this endowment, the Mosby Family
wanted to ensure that students with financial aid could fully participate in
the life of Shorecrest during their high school years.
With an initial gift of just over $100,000, interest from the fund provides up
to $400 for textbooks for a full need Upper Division student and additional
funds for financial aid Upper Division students to participate in activities at
school, including attendance at Homecoming and Valentine's Day dances,
Prom and other social events as well as participate in overnight trips with
clubs and teams or other similar activities.
Board Designated Endowment Funds
The Board of Trustees can periodically choose to put restrictions on
unrestricted endowment funds. These are then referred to as Board
Designated Endowment Funds. The funds in this category currently
include four funds that were established as part of the Leading Today,
Building Tomorrow Campaign. Shorecrest encourages additional
contributions to strengthen these endowment funds
Facilities (Deferred Maintenance)
$791,069
Endowment for facilities is the key to ensuring that adequate funds are
available to maintain buildings. This endowment supports the care and
maintenance of facilities, upgrading of technology, increased utilities, and
additional personnel to staff new buildings.
In Support of Outstanding Teaching and Faculty
$193,583
This endowment fund will help sustain teaching excellence and increase professional development opportunities,
so we may continue to hire and retain outstanding faculty.
Need Based Financial Aid
$370,792
To continue serving talented students of families who cannot afford the cost of tuition, Shorecrest has established a
need-based financial aid endowment. This financial aid helps attract a capable and diverse student body and fulfills a
commitment to strengthen our community.
General Endowment- Non-Designated
$1,636,843

Earnings from unrestricted endowment gifts will be used to support the most important needs of Shorecrest. This income will
allow the school to mitigate tuition increases, upgrade technology, purchase new classroom supplies, maintain and improve the
physical plant and enhance the overall Shorecrest educational environment.
Total: $3,135,284*
* In order to grow the endowment, the Board of Trustees has determined that the school will not make any withdrawals from the Board Designated Endowment
Funds until the principal and earnings of the combined four funds reaches $5 million. Any future withdrawals from the Board Designated Endowment Funds
will be within the guidelines of maintaining a $5 million balance of the combined funds. At the annual discretion of the Board of Trustees, Shorecrest makes it
a practice to transfer 15% of the funds raised through the Annual Giving Campaign to the Board Designated Endowment Funds.

What is Endowment
Endowment is the financial foundation of all
successful education institutions. Income
from endowment secures programs,
supplements faculty compensation and
enhances the educational experience above
what tuition dollars cover. The principal is
invested and a percentage of the earnings
fund current school programs. An
endowment gift is made in perpetuity to
the school and future generations.
