What are my
moments
Worst moments for me were the all-important round 1 and 2 bids to Heritage Lottery
Fund, the consequences of the bid failing were too horrible to contemplate and I felt
very personally responsible. Whatever was to follow, unless we got past this hurdle, the
complete vision wouldn't happen. Huge pride and joy when we heard that we'd been
successful, but perhaps great relief was the strongest emotion.
Best moment was that powerful feeling of working with safe hands. The whole team is
incredibly talented and they know what they're doing. Whatever went wrong I knew
they'd pull it round. I've also made some great friendships and am very proud to be part
of the team.
Most moving moment was going into the Cathedral after evensong, when everybody
had gone home and recording the singing of this wonderful choir. The majority of light
was coming in through the stained glass from the external floodlights and in the semi-
gloom the choir started with the oldest known partsong with English words, dating
from the 13th century. Magical and I'm reminded of it every time I go in the Vault and
hear them.
Most supportive moment? Everybody and all of the time. Whether it be from my
own small team, the wider project team, the many audiences across Lincolnshire
who've kindly listened to me banging on endlessly about Lincoln Castle Revealed or
people stopping me in the street to find out if we'd got that sarcophagus out yet. Much
appreciated and couldn't have done it without you all. Thank-you.
