Charlie Morrow
Sound Artist.
Charlie and his team have researched and produced a
variety of soundscape for Lincoln Castle Revealed.
Best moment - When the Prison, Chapel and Magna Carta Vault came
alive when their soundscapes were launched.
Worst moment - The Cathedral Choir and volunteers freezing in the
Prison and Chapel during our recording session.
Sarah Pollard
3D Designer and Project Leader, Ralph Appelbaum Associates.
Sarah was responsible for interpretation design and implementation
throughout the Lincoln Castle Revealed project.
High point - The realisation of the project on site is always a high point
for me, where the design is transformed from plans and elevations
on paper into real, physical environments. When the media is then
activated, the spaces are completely transformed.
Low point - Working within a Grade II-listed building presents some
challenges that demand creative solutions. In the Archaeology displays
we were advised that surface-mounted cabling and lighting were not
acceptable. The back-lit graphics and internally-illuminated showcases
we have developed as an alternative have proved successful and are
visually striking.
Laura Harris
Producer at Centre Screen.
Laura and the team at Centre Screen created
the two films in the Magna Carta Vault.
Best moments - Walking onto set and seeing King John's recreated
throne room for the first time. After months of careful planning
and deliberating over cast, costume, props and set designs, seeing
everything come together was a spectacular sight.
Likewise, stepping into the vault at Lincoln Castle to see the finished
films projected onto the 210° wraparound screen completed with 3D
sound, was a very proud moment. The space really does immerse you in
the incredible story of the birth of Magna Carta, and the ideologies of
liberty and freedom.
Most challenging - Uncommon to Manchester, the 4 days we spent in
the studio were the hottest of 2014, and filming with braziers and open
fires made it an uncomfortably warm place to be! Lots of patience and
lots of iced water was required for my amazing cast and crew to work
their magic. They say; if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the
studio. Thankfully everybody stayed.
