of wood floors
OIL FINISHING OF
WOOD FLOORS
The oiling of wood floors what are the advantages? It is an old
Scandinavian tradition to impregnate wood with oil as far inside
the wood grain as possible where it is left to cure leaving a hardly
visible coat of oil on the surface. The saturation of the wood is high-
ly important. The oil finishing systems from Protego ensure a deep
impregnation of the wood. We offer traditional oxidizing oils which
are the original materials and extremely hard wearing and easy
maintainable, but also UV Oils.
TRADITIONAL, OXIDIZING OILS
The oil is applied with rubber rollers on a lacquering line or with
spraying guns. The oil is pressed inside the wood grain with the
rollers and buffed in with polishing brushes. The industrial Oil
dries within 5 minutes or 30 minutes depending on variation
chosen. The oils are available in oil and water based. This coating
system creates a hard-wearing and flexible finish which is easy to
maintain.
PROFF OIL - 12 COLOURS
Proff Oil is based on a combination of natural hard oil components,
developed for production of hard-wearing floors and is VOC free.
The natural oil has a solid matter content of app. 70 per cent. It pen-
etrates the grain of the wood easily ensuring a deep impregnation
of the wood grain. Proff Oil may be applied with semi-hard rubber
rollers on finish line. It may also be sprayed on line. Manual applica-
tion is also an option. It requires polishing on line with brushes. It
also requires drying on racks overnight. The surface is pre-hardened
in app. 2 hours.

HIGH SOLID PROFF OIL - 12 COLOURS
High Solid means less oil applied but still ensures additional
advantages as to easy application and improved wear and resist-
ance. High Solid Proff Oil has less than 5 per cent of solvent and
VOC free. Furthermore the drying is improved and is quicker
than the regular Proff Oil.

INDUSTRIAL OIL - 20 COLOURS
Industrial Oils are based on a variation of natural hard oil com-
ponents especially developed for production of hard-wearing
wood floors. The oil has a solid matter content of app. 70 per cent.
It penetrates the grain of the wood, ensuring a deep saturation
of the wood grain. Industrial Oil is for industrial finishing only.
It is applied with semi-hard rubber rollers on finishing line. Two
to three coats of industrial oil are applied. It requires brushing
preferably before the drying tunnel, and it requires buffing with
hard brushes before packing. It requires app. 3-6 minutes of dry-
ing time in the tunnel at a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius. For
coloured oils the drying time is slightly longer.
HIGH SOLID INDUSTRIAL OIL - 20 COLOURS
The properties of this product are the same as mentioned un-
der "Industrial Oil". However, one important feature of this oil
is the reduced quantity of solvent. High Solid Industrial Oil has
app. 3 per cent of solvent. Due to the high content of natural oil,
the High Solid Industrial Oil produces a harder wearing surface
which is also more resistant to fluids such as red wine, coke, and
coffee. With the correct application, a slightly shiny surface may
be produced with this product. Also the drying is improved and
is faster than the normal Protego Industrial Oil.
WATER BASED INDUSTRIAL OIL NATURAL AND WHITE 20 COLOURS
Free from volatile organic components (VOC)
Water Based Industrial Oil is based on extracts from plants and
seeds and is an environment friendly product with water as sol-
vent, and unleaded drying agents. The water based oil has a solid
matter content of more than 70 per cent. It penetrates the wood
surface easily which ensures a hard wearing surface. Water Based
Industrial Oil natural lends a warm colour to the wood with an
enhancement of the grain and white leaves a white wash appear-
ance to the surface. The water based oiled surface ensures a hard-
wearing and resistant floor
