Air Show Features Civilian Planes
OCEAN CITY – The OC Air Show will feature what organizers are calling an “All-Star, All-Civilian lineup” this weekend over the beach and Boardwalk. There will be teams of parachute jumpers, demonstrations of a variety of aircraft, low-altitude flyovers and non-military aerobatic performances. Acts already online for the performances June 8 and 9 (with practices on June 6 and 7) include Air Force Heritage Flight, Mike Wiskus in the Lucas Oil Pitts, Sean Carroll YAK-9 Fighter Demo, John Klatt in the ANG MXS, Lucas Oil Parachute Team, GEICO Skytypers, The Red Bull Helicopter, P-51 Mustang Demo, L-39 Jet Demonstration and the Sea Harrier Jet Demo. This year’s event had to be overhauled once word came from the federal government that sequestration would ground the U.S. Na-vy’s Blue Angels, which had been tapped to headline the OC Air Show for the first time ever. The U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds team has previously headlined the annual June event. All performances are free to watch from anywhere but the Show Center and Drop Zone.
