donor involved scholarships
Silicon Valley Community Foundation donor involved scholarship funds are administered in
partnership with schools, nonprofits, organizations or individuals wishing to support higher
education. While the community foundation provides oversight and administers the payment
pro cess, the application and selection processes for the scholarships listed below are
managed by an external selection committee appointed by the community foundation.
AIA Santa Clara Valley Chapter
William R. Hawley Scholarship
Up to $5,000 / Up to 2 one-time awards
For students pursuing a career in architecture.

Eligibility Requirements
· Legal resident of Santa Clara County
· Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate
program leading to a career in architecture
· Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum
of two years of college work in architecture or similar field
major at the end of the current academic year
· Previous recipients of this scholarship are eligible
Anthony Narigi Hospitality Scholarship
Up to $5,000 / Up to 5 one-time awards
For students who plan to pursue a career in the hospitality
industry.

Eligibility Requirements
· Current resident of Monterey County, San Francisco
County, Sonoma County, Napa County, Contra Costa
County or Santa Clara County
· Currently employed in the hospitality profession or
applying or enrolled in an educational program pursuing
a degree or certificate designed for the hospitality
industry, which includes:
° Hotel / Motel
° Spa
° Restaurant
° Winery
· Applicants must have worked a minimum of 250 hours if
currently employed in the hospitality industry or 100
hours if a current student
· Applicants must hold a high school diploma
· Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point
average of 2.5
The BAC Local 3 Sullivan Kraw Scholarship
Up to $2,500 / Up to 19 one-time awards
For current Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 3 CA
employees and members and / or their spouse, children,
and grandchildren.

Eligibility Requirements
· Qualifying member must have been a member in good
standing of BAC 3 CA for at least five years immediately
preceding the date of application.
· Current graduating high school senior, high school
graduate or undergraduate planning to attend a college or
university in California on a full-time basis.
· Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
· United States citizen
Carolyn Balsa Hancock Memorial Scholarship
Up to $1,000 / Up to 4 one-time awards
For graduating high school seniors of East Side Union High
School District who intend to pursue vocational or academic
training.

· Students must also have a plan for additional vocational

Courtney McCoy Memorial Scholarship
Up to $1,000 / Up to 5 one-time awards
For Palo Alto High School students who served as a teacher
assistant or classified student service assistant.

· Current graduating senior from Palo Alto High School
planning to attend college

classified student service assistant as well as display a

Cynthia H. Kuo Scholarship
Up to $5,000 / Up to 5 one-time awards
For international students from China who are studying in
the Bay Area and are actively involved in the Christian faith
and/or youth group.

· Overseas Chinese or South East Asian student, planning
to attend a four-year college in the U.S. on a full-time
basis

David W. Lakamp Scholarship
Up to $5,000 / Up to 3 one-time awards
For architecture students who have demonstrated
interest and / or studies focused on the cutting edge of
architectural.

For Santa Clara County residents who plan to pursue
a degree in architecture.
