MARAHAU
Often referred to as "Abel
Tasman Village" Marahau is a
quiet, friendly little community
less developed and less busy
then Kaiteriteri. It is the closest
road access point to the Abel
Tasman from Nelson, at only an
hour's drive. The Coastal Track
starts in Marahau; many people
choose to use Marahau as their
base or starting point for that
reason.
There is a full range of activity
operations departing from
Marahau including Water Taxis,
Kayaking, Mountain Biking and
Horse Riding. Beaches, rivers,
bush and wetlands are all in
walking distance.
Marahau provides camping and
caravan parks, backpackers, bed
and breakfast and chalet styles
of accommodation, all available
year round (freedom camping
is not permitted). There are
licensed cafes, a convenience
store and bus services to/from
Nelson and Motueka.
You can't get any closer to

without being in it!

Visit the Abel Tasman National
Park and you'll see magnificent
scenery, golden sandy beaches
and lush native forest. You can
explore the park by guided walk,
sea kayak, cruise boat, water
taxi or a combination of these
options.
Abel Tasman National Park
is a coastal haven for native
flora and wildlife and visitors
seeking a close-to-nature
experience. It stretches along
a beautiful coastline of sandy,
bush-wrapped beaches locked
between rocky headlands.
To walk the full Abel Tasman
track takes three to four days
but you can choose from a
number of shorter coastal
Wilsons Abel Tasman, loading at Medlands Beach.
