The Shopper Community Quilters The January meeting for the Community Quilters, January 20, 2014, will be an “apron extravaganza” with Robin Bowling. Please wear and bring your treasured aprons to share and learn more about them from Robin. We are planning on sharing our last series of Blocks of the Month in February. Keep working on those quilts! February will also bring the start of the new Blocks of the Month. February will also be a work day / sew in after our regular meeting. Shirley Rutherford will teach us some fancy binding techniques at the meeting and teach a nine patch variation quilt at the stay and sew. Materials lists will be available at the January meeting. The Antique Toys Challenge started at the November meeting. All quilts are due in June of 2014. Get your idea started and be ready for the competition! You could be the winner and make a beautiful quilt. We are thankful to all who contributed quilts, small and bed-sized, and craft items for the Fall Bazaar at the Scottish Rite Hospital. Members also continue to support the Montague County Child Welfare Board and foster parents in our area with toys and quilts brought to our December meeting. Thanks to all! The meeting begins at our regular time, 10:00 a.m. on January 20, 2014 at the Bowie Senior Citizens Center. Take some time for yourself and join us. For more information, please contact the Senior Center at 940-872-4500. 15 Stacy Gamblin For Commissioner Pct. 2 Thursday, January 2, 2014 I, Stacy Gamblin, did in fact accept the job of commissioner Pct. 2 to finish out my husband’s term (which ends December 31, 2014) and I honestly did not have any intention of running for this office. As the deadline became closer I was approached by numerous concerned citizens, and asked multiple times to run. At that time I took it one step further making sure that there weren’t any legal issues that would arise. There was not another person signed up at this time to run. The question was asked if no one did sign up would I consider 4 more years. I began to seriously consider my options. I feel I have many qualities to offer this position. I take my job very seriously and am willing to do the necessary work to get the job done. I will always return phone calls in a timely manner and listen to everyone’s concerns. I work well with others and am open minded to the fact that I will always consider other methods and ideas before making any final decisions. I have been a resident of Montague County most of my life. I have successfully owned and operated multiple businesses.; I have over 15 years of experience in the dirt, road, and heavy equipment work, although I believe my job as commissioner is to be a leader, manager, and a team player. I will utilize my skills to help set budgets, and allocate expenses in the best interest of our County. I will make it my sole priority to have a goal, set out and address each issue, complaint, and or concern when elected to this office. Thank you for your consideration I am asking for your support along with your vote in the March 4, 2014 primary. Remember, every vote counts.
