Bowie’s Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Festival, which happens during the ﬁrst weekend of December, is almost here! Main Street Bowie and local businesses host Santa’s House, which is to be held at Edwards Collision Center on Wise Street from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring the kids out for a free photograph with Santa Claus!! The Friends of the Auditorium will be giving tours of the Auditorium as well as hosting the “Battle of the Praise Bands”. Competitors will be youth praise bands from all over Montague County and will be performing from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The competition will take place in front of the City Auditorium. Make sure to come out and listen to the concert and take a tour of the beautiful and historic City Auditorium. The Friends of the Auditorium and partner organization, Bowie Alliance for Education will be conducting the tours and serving refreshments. Don’t leave the downtown area after the day’s fantastic activities because Main Street Bowie has an entire evening of activities planned for everyone as well. Beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the Legend Bank Parking Garage, located at the corner of Tarrant and Smythe streets, there will be Christmas Concessions from the Bowie High School Interact Club. They will have delicious sausage on a stick and pulled pork sandwiches. Christmas Karaoke with Rockin’ Rob and choir performances will also take place. The 22nd Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday and will stroll throughout the downtown Bowie area. Colorful ﬂoats, vehicles, riding groups, and marching groups will light up the night. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Community/NonProﬁt, Business, Equestrian, and Decorated Vehicle. Prizes are sponsored by local area businesses. A Sweepstakes (best of parade) prize will also be awarded. There is no fee to enter the parade.
