The Shopper
Buffalo Springs Chatter
This is the time of year that you find out if you really like your job or not! I was off for 4 days, and I’m ready to go back to work. I did get to play my favorite game over the Thanksgiving Holiday…42 dominos. Saturday night the North Texas Singles Club (with a few married folk) got together at Fuzzy’s Tacos in Decatur and afterwards went to Karen Pruitt’s house for dominos. No, I did not win! My partner, Glen Barker, and I lost big time. Gayle Johnson and Phil Tharp beat the socks off of us with 7 games out of 8. Glen was ready for his usual partner (his wife Gerri), and I was ready for a gorge (food) session! I heard thru the grapevine though that Gerri was glad to have the night off from 42, to play Mexican Train. She won! Glen learned from playing 42 with me that you do NOT ask a woman why she does or does not play right! My Gingko Biloba did not work. I had never played against Gayle
Thursday, December 5, 2013 by Carmen Wood me and the doggies were glad to be home Sunday night. Sissie (the pom) acted like she was upset because I had made them sleep and ride in their crate. On the way home on Sunday evening, she was very quiet. She’s usually barking the whole way. I guess she was tired and cranky. Everyone have a wonderful week until next week on the same day, same Shopper. Carmen 940-928-2295 or 940613-4652.

Johnson before and I’m not sure I ever want to play with him AGAIN! LOL – Just kidding Gayle. What a nice guy to play dominos with - he can whoop ya and make you smile while you are losing. We all had a great time! I spent the whole day on Sunday in Decatur with church and then back to church at 3 p.m., planning the Christmas program. I visited with Karen Pruitt in between, and had lunch with Judie Richards. I had spent the night at Judie’s, so

Then He said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ought not Christ to have seffered these things, and to enter into His glory? (Luke 24:25-26) Verses 13 through 53 are peculiar to Luke. He who walked on the road to Emmaus was “This Same Jesus” (Acts 1:11) but “in another form” (Mark 16:12). It is impossible for us to realize what were the power of the Lord’s glorified body after the resurrection. Like Joseph’s action with his brothers, so the Lord did not discover Himself to these two disciples until He had brought them
Love Letters: A Journey with the Word
into a fitting condition of soul. When Jesus used the words, “ought not” it meant “was it not necessary, because it was predicted?”. This emphasized the word “All” in verse 25. These two disciples had confined their bible study to that which the scriptures promised respecting the Messiah’s glory and kingdom, but they had been blind to the multitude of types and prophecies foretelling His sufferings as an atoning savior. Jesus then directed these two men. To the bible, which then was the Old Testament. In a sense, He divided it into two parts, “The Law” and “The Prophets”. This makes the bible, because it is inspired, the supreme authority as to faith and doctrine. Its subject is the sufferings and glories of Christ. His sufferings as sin
bearer, i.e. sin offering (Phil. 2:6-10); His glories as sin purger (Heb. 1:3). The crucified. If we understand it as we should, we will see that everything ultimately points to Him and His sacrifice of Himself. Concerning all of this, it might well be said that Christ went, bible in hand, into death, and that he came out, bible in hand, from among the dead. He insisted that it predicted His death and resurrection in relation to sin and it’s judgement. So, immediately prior to His death and immediately subsequent to His resurrection, he made more than thirty quotations from the inspired word. If the word was the light to Christ, it most definitely must be our light as well (Psalm 119:105). Bro. Carl Finney, Psalm 119:11
