Cy Young makes his choice from the bake sale items cooked up to augment scholarship income. Once again the Barbeque fundraiser for the 2014 Montague County Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship was very successful, owing to the effort of volunteers and the support of all those friends who joined them November 9th to enjoy some good eating! Mary Ann Ewing, MCRSPA president remarked, “Thanks are due to all the community support that has been given for our BBQ this year and in past years to help us fund the scholarships. Even with all the other functions going on at the same time, area businesses and individuals have stepped up to support us, and our scholarship program is assured for county graduating seniors in 2014.” Members are reminded to get ready for the Christmas Meeting, Tuesday, December 3rd at the Bowie Senior Citizen Center. You are urged to come, eat lunch at 12:00 if you like, but be sure to be with us for the program and business meeting at 12:45. Bring friends! Call the Center, 940-872-4500 by 10 a.m. to reserve lunch. Cost of meal is $3.00. Mary Whatley, one of our own, will entertain retirees with a highly anticipated seasonal book review. Remember, in lieu of exchanging gifts, we begin our children’s book collection drive for the year at Christmas. Last year retirees collected and distributed 397 books to children. All interested persons are welcomed to enjoy the fun.

Mr. Frantom’s Success Story Mr. Billy Frantom required inpatient rehabilitation at ARHC Bowie after hospitalization with a procedure on his heart. His first week of physical and occupational therapy focused on safety and confidence with bed mobility, and transfers with emphasis on sternal precautions. Billy quickly progressed with strength and balance! He practiced using a rolling walker and cane with activities of daily living. Mr. Frantom had one goal… to get home! After a month of rehab plan of care he was cleared by his doctor to return home. His progress was noted using the Berg Balance Test and the Functional Reach Test to determine safety with dynamic home activities. The rehab and IDT team enjoyed being a part of Mr. Frantom’s recovery.
If you or your loved one are in need of short term rehab please call Patty Allen at 940-531-2875. We would love to make you our next success story, because we can’t spell success wihout “u”!
