Daniel 5:30 As night settles over the capital of Babylon with its two hundred and fifty towers, palaces, temples, orchards and Euphrates flowing through it. The evening breeze begins to stir leaves and flowers of the hanging gardens Nebuchadnezzar had built for his home sick bride. The breeze this night scatters the fragrance everywhere on the night of the great hangout for a thousand lords and nobles, their ladies and the wives and concubines of Belshazzar’s glorious palace. A palace of spender with marble floors and walls with tapestries of Babylonious power and superstition, with massive marble pillars and mystic Persian rugs, with gushing fountains to fling up their silver spray and exotic fish flashing in the water, with rare birds who sing their songs in elaborate cages along the wall. As the quests are arriving in chariots drawn by Arabian steeds and where slaves and servants usher them to this grand stairway of the banqueting hall, from somewhere one can hear the soft playing of an orchestra as entering this grand palace. Belshazzar and his wives and concubines enter after all have been seated. What a night for this young monarch who has ransacked every part of the kingdom for a contribution to this wild night. After sometime his head swimming with wine from every nation, this young monarch decides to shock and awe his guests with an un-heard of performance. This wild night of debauchery, they will be served with the sacred vessels of the Hebrews – the very vessels borne by priestly hands in the service of Jehovah’s temple – now filled with wine and smeared with saliva of drunken nobles and their monarch. What a royal defiance! Using the very vessels of Jehovah to worship the gods of gold, silver, iron, brass, wood, stone and flesh. The vessels dedicated to the worship of the most high GOD! This wild night, just where is the God of the Hebrews> He is nearer than anyone thought…..one can hear the sacred vessels clanging on the marble floors as over against the sevenfold candlestick illuminated wall to his horror, fingers of a man’s handwriting on the wall….Judgment…. Death….Thou Fool….. This night the words of doom are heard in aura and silence by all….Then suddenly soldiers are rushing in swords flashing – groans, shouts, curses, pleas for mercy rang and soon a thousand lords and nobles ad ladies lay dead in a slush of mingled wine and blood among them lay Belshazzar. “Though thou knowest all this” Daniel said this young man would not be taught or warned. Its one thing to know and something else to act upon that knowledge. Many persons have been the victim of sins of the night. Every day and night all across this county immortal souls made for fellowship with God, made for a robe of Righteousness and a throne of influence, are stained, marred, broken, slain, and lost to the sins of night. Oh tragedies of the darkness! “Oh Lord, as we are weighed in your balance, help us to accept Jesus who having forgiven all our trespasses and blotting out the handwriting that was against us and took it away, nailing it to his cross, thereby we can shine your light into the darkness of our county, our homes and lives, help us to experience a life Changed, Challenged and Charged for Jesus Christ. Oh, Lord Revive us again. AMEN” Pastor DeWayne Holden, Montague Holiness Church Commercial Steer Program The Cross Timbers Commercial Steer Program will begin its 2013-2014 year on Wednesday, October 2nd, with the weighin for the steers. The committee will be available at the Bowie Livestock Auction starting at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to weigh the steers, provide vaccinations and implants if you elect to use them. If the steers do not come to Bowie, you will need to make arrangements to have your steer weighed on a certified set of scales by a weight master (someone other than the owner and authorized to weigh commodities). We recommend that you start with a steer that weighs between 650 lbs. and 750 lbs. If you need assistance finding a steer or financing the project, please let us know. If you plan to participate in this year’s feeding program, please let one of the committee members know by September 30th so adequate products/supplies can be available. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the following committee members: Van Baize 940-872-4400; Kevin Przilas 940-841-1090; Travis Thorne 940-872-3150; Dwight Siebman 940-841-0424; Alan Miller 940-872-2205. Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Wichita Falls area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. MSU Sikes Activity Center will be the site of the Walk on Saturday, September 28th at 8 a.m. Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a walk. It is an experience for over 500 participants in Wichita Falls and the surrounding area who will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities, the latest in Alzheimer’s research and clinical trial enrollment to support programs and services. Each walker will also join in a meaningful ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s. In addition to the 2 mile, participants will enjoy the music of Prairie Moon Band, vendor booths and special tribute ceremony to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s. Start or join a team today at alz. org/walk “There has never been a greater need for the citizens of Wichita Falls to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Patty Taylor, Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association. “Funds raised will provide care and support services to the residents of Texas living with Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to advancing critically-needed research.” The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®; now the Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s – the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
