Hamburger Feed to Help Deputy James Boyd
Deputy James Boyd went above and beyond the call of duty on March 21, 2013. Because of his heroism, Governor Rick Perry will be presenting Deputy Boyd with a Texas Star Award on September 12, 2013 in Austin, Texas. Friends of Deputy Boyd are hosting a Hamburger Feed and Bake Sale to help with travel and other costs for attending this special event. The meal will take place at the Montague County Courthouse Annex community room on Friday, August 23rd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please come, everyone is welcome!

Order Restricting Outdoor Burning
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court has determined that circumstances present in all of the unincorporated area of the county create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning. IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, by the Commissioners Court of Montague County that all outdoor burning is banned in the unincorporated areas of the county for 90 days from the date of adoption of this Order unless the restrictions are terminated earlier based on a determination made by the Texas Forest Service or this Court. This Order is adopted pursuant to Local Government Code Section 352.081, and other applicable statutes. This Order does not prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Natural Resources Commission for (1) firefighter training; (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations; (3) harvesting of agricultural crop; or (4) welding allowed with restrictions listed below: *area should be clean 15 ft. or more on welding site *there should be at least 55 gallons of water with the ability to pressurize & spray welding site *an additional person should be onsite with welder to spot fires *a fire extinguisher on welding site. Montague County Tax Appraisal District The Montague County Tax Appraisal District will hold a public hearing on a proposed budget for the 2014 fiscal year. The public hearing will be held on September 11, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Appraisal District offices at 7549 State Hwy 175 North, Montague, Texas. The appraisal district is supported solely by payments from the local taxing units served by the appraisal district.
