The Ocean City/Berlin Optimist Youth Foundation announced the winners of its 4th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing. The team of Lou Taylor, Dan Parker, Ron Richards and Nick Price won the tournament. Second place was captured by Joe Jankowski, Ron Frew, Tom Herrick and Robert Ricks. Charles Smith, golf chairman, announced over $10,500 was raised to add to the foundation’s scholarship endowment fund. Above, Nick Price, center, was the longest drive winner. Barbara Mikulski as well the president of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization at the Hospice Action Network Intensive in Washington, D.C., on July 29. Above, Capen also met with Chris Meekins, deputy chief of staff for policy for Congressman Andy Harris. Meekins is holding a button that reads, "I learned about hospice before I needed it." The Germantown School Community Heritage Center is hosting a banquet honoring alumni and sole surviving teacher Josephine Anderson on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Berlin Intermediate School.
