The saying for the week is: “ In the end what effects your life most deeply are things too simple to talk about ”. Good luck to all the folks in town for the Turkey Fest. Based on all the gobblers I have seen over the past several weeks the participants should have a good chance at bagging a large one to compete in the largest beard competition. Get out and enjoy all the activities and hopefully the cold snap will only help make sure the birds are out early strutting. On the home front the girls are busy working on their math and science projects for the Bellevue High Math and Science Fair to be held Friday. Lots of illustrations to be printed off the internet and different text to be printed out as well. Unfortunately my printer decided that it was time to just stop. I grew up with folks telling me that GM and Ford had engineered in obsolescence. In this case Epson decided that I could only make a certain amount of color prints and I should just be prepared to throw my printer away and buy a new one when they say so. Of course this message came up only after I had made a special trip to Wichita Falls to buy new ink cartridges, which are not cheap I should add. I put in the new cartridge and pressed OK to finish loading the ink when everything seemed to lock up. Needless to say Bruce was not a happy camper when the message came up saying I had exceeded the number of copies allowed and to please

contact a service center to replace some parts and to reset the counter again. At this point Shelley stepped in to save the day and the girls’ projects. She discovered a nice little web site where it gave the instructions for resetting the counter and the secret code to enter in through the keypad. Something about pressing three buttons at once while facing north during a full moon and chanting the first three verses to Hell Freezes Over by the Eagles and counting to ten backwards. Anyway it worked, so all is well. Also well is Shelley after celebrating her birthday on Saturday. Homemade spaghetti and French bread with some of Kayla’s ambrosia goes well with a bright pink birthday cake. The girls and I sprung for a new coffee maker which had Shelley doing a happy dance in the kitchen. We topped off the weekend by taking Sunday afternoon and visiting her mom and dad in Seymour. The four hours we spent just visiting went by way too quickly. We got to see several of Joe’s paintings and sharing stories that had Barbara chuckling most of the afternoon. I even slipped in my Foghorn Leghorn impersonation. The Vashti Fire Department will be holding their annual Brisket dinner/Cake auction fundraiser on April 27th starting at 5:00 p.m. Along with a delicious meal you will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a Hustler 48” zero-turn mower valued at $4,000. year the department is also selling tickets for a chance at an Ipad 4 valued at $700.00. There will be lots of chances to bid on all the delicious cakes and pies the ladies of the community provide. That along with some lively MC’ing from our auctioneer makes for a memorable evening. I had a call from Tyler Garrison concerning the date of the community cleanup. We will be moving the date for the cleanup back one week to the 11th of May. This was necessary due to a wedding taking place on the fourth at the Baptist Church. We will still need all our volunteers to meet at the Center at 8:00 a.m. to pick up work assignments. We have several projects in mind but still need your input to make the most of the day. Contact Tyler with any of your project ideas. I understand that a roll-off dumpster will again be available for larger items that need disposal. In your prayers this week please remember Bonnie Underhill, Tyler Terry, Debbie Denson, Kay and Earnest Perkins, Mary Musgrove, Grover Watkins, Dewey Staley, Shirley Stovall, Sue Phillips, Wanda Molsbee, Trey Spivey, JoAnn Spivey, Betty Jo Hatfield, Bill Bartlett, B.J. Tate, Connie Elrod, Betty Allen, Verne Lawson, Garrett Nunn, G-Ma, Philip Lawson. Please remember those actively serving in the military at this time.
