Buffalo Springs Chatter
by Carmen Wood I believe the Joy Volunteer Fire Department Fund Raiser was a big success! At least from where I was sitting, it was. The food was absolutely to die for as usual. Love their catfish and hushpuppies. The music was outstanding. Sara Sears introduced herself to me in the line. I have a hard time putting names to faces, but her beautiful face is not one I’ll forget anytime soon. Sara is a beautiful lady inside and out. I also ran into many of my church friends: Lots of Raters! JT & Jane Browning, Betty McGee, Kathy Carr, Billy Waller, and bunches of other good people. I had a nice short visit with two of my favorites, Verne & Ava Lawson. I have to say I’m an Okie by birth but I’m a Texan at heart, especially for North Central Texas, and even more specific Buffalo Springs, Joy, Vashti, Newport, Bluegrove.. ALL YA’LL! (See? I can even talk the talk) I haven’t quite mastered the word “Idy”…you know.. I have an Idy that Ken threw his tickets in the garbage by mistake. Just goes to show you that women are better at keeping up with stuff. I thoroughly enjoy music and I loved hearing these guys play and sing: Gene Skelton, Sam Odell, Clay Skelton, Lou Lobbins, Steve Bounds, Clinton Petersen, Dan Webb, and Wayne Love. Thanks to Kelly O’Dell for giving me some names.
