2 Thursday, April 18, 2013 Texas has a New Cowboy! Cowboy! Mallie would like to announce the arrival of her rootin’ tootin’ little brother, Bowie FFA Wildlife Team Qualifies for State The Shopper Jake James Gehringer. Born on December 15, 2012 weighing 2 lbs. 15 oz. and 14.96 inches long! Proud parents are Charles & Emily Gehringer. Proud grandparents are Pam Baker & Burl & Debbie McCandless. We would like to first and foremost, thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Dr. Russell Edwards & crew at Wise Regional of Decatur, Wise County EMS, our home away from home- Baylor All Saints LD & NICU of Ft. Worth, and everyone who helped & prayed for us through this trying but blessed time. You’re truly our angels in waiting! “And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.” Mark 10:16 The Bowie FFA Wildlife Career Development Team participated in the Area V Wildlife CDE on Monday, April 8, 2013. The event was held on the CCR Ranch near Ranger, Texas. Twenty-two teams competed for the top five spots; thus qualifying for State. The Bowie Team placed 5th and will travel to the State Competition which will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, in Junction, Texas. Team members are (left to right) Cade Roth, Grant Roth, Weston Skinner, Levi Wallace, and Austin Davis. Buffalo Springs Chatter by Carmen Wood I believe the Joy Volunteer Fire Department Fund Raiser was a big success! At least from where I was sitting, it was. The food was absolutely to die for as usual. Love their catfish and hushpuppies. The music was outstanding. Sara Sears introduced herself to me in the line. I have a hard time putting names to faces, but her beautiful face is not one I’ll forget anytime soon. Sara is a beautiful lady inside and out. I also ran into many of my church friends: Lots of Raters! JT & Jane Browning, Betty McGee, Kathy Carr, Billy Waller, and bunches of other good people. I had a nice short visit with two of my favorites, Verne & Ava Lawson. I have to say I’m an Okie by birth but I’m a Texan at heart, especially for North Central Texas, and even more specific Buffalo Springs, Joy, Vashti, Newport, Bluegrove.. ALL YA’LL! (See? I can even talk the talk) I haven’t quite mastered the word “Idy”…you know.. I have an Idy that Ken threw his tickets in the garbage by mistake. Just goes to show you that women are better at keeping up with stuff. I thoroughly enjoy music and I loved hearing these guys play and sing: Gene Skelton, Sam Odell, Clay Skelton, Lou Lobbins, Steve Bounds, Clinton Petersen, Dan Webb, and Wayne Love. Thanks to Kelly O’Dell for giving me some names. Kelly, I had to ask someone what your name was also. I don’t do names well, numbers are better. I did have to leave earlier than I wanted to because I am still trying to get all of the tax returns done that are still waiting. We missed a lot of good music and good auctions and door prize drawing, which would not have done us any good since KEN lost our tickets! Congratulations to Andee Shae Nored for winning Reserve All Around Cowgirl at the KRJA. Thanks to Sara Parnell, Belinda Vahle, and Gerri Roper for filling in for me at the clinic while I finished up tax season. I hear Jeanie Daugherty and Belinda and Dr. Pam took in some orphaned puppies and an injured bird while I was gone. They just didn’t have enough to do. Dr. Pam, do I need to put you back in your squirrel cage again? LOL (she’s probably enjoying a breath of air with me not being there to mess up her schedule). Ha! Oh, and by the way, I am not Hispanic, I am Greek. I have to laugh. Some people come in and ask for me like, “I need to talk to that short, fat woman with the short hair, that Hispanic woman.” I am 50% Greek and 50% Irish. My dad was the short fat Greek, Mom was the tall slender Irish. I am my dad’s daughter in MANY ways! Happy Birthday to Louise Maxwell on April 20. My sister Drenda Cobb in Duncan, OK has a birthday on the 19th. April 18th is Chris and Betty McGee’s Anniversary. Hope everyone has a great day!
