The pageant has two age groups:  Little  Miss,  six  to  twelve years old and Miss Jim  Bowie  Days,  thirteen  to  nineteen years old. Contestants will  be judged on horsemanship, appearance, personality and ticket  sales.   For  horsemanship,  contestants will ride their own horses  in a pre-selected riding pattern  to showcase their riding ability.  Each  contestant  will  be  questioned  about  their  equine  and  horsemanship knowledge.   Personal interviews will also  be  conducted  during  a  private  luncheon  for  contestants,  parents and judges at a later date.  They  will  answer  impromptu  questions  on  the  topics  of  rodeo  and  current  events.  These  interviews  also  allow  the  contestants to share their personality with the judges.   The  media  and  public  are  invited to attend the horsemanship  portion  of  the  pageant.  It  will  be  held  at  the  Bowie  Rodeo Arena at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28th.   This  year’s  contest  is  like  none  before  it.  Prizes  awarded  for  Queen  include  a  2013  CM  Dakota  2  horse  slant  trophy  trailer  with  floor  mats  and  walk-in  tack  room.  Our  Little  Miss  will  be  awarded  a  new  saddle, custom fit for her. First  and Second Runner-up, Horsemanship,  Appearance,  Ticket  Sales  and  Miss  Congeniality  will win valuable gifts as well.  Coronation will take place prior to the Saturday night performance on June 29th.   The primary role of Miss Jim  Bowie  Days  and  Little  Miss  Jim Bowie Days is to promote  the sport of rodeo and the community of Bowie.   For  more  information  about  the  pageant  and  to  print  out  an  application,  please  visit  the  website at www.jimbowiedays. org.  Applications  will  be  accepted until June 1, 2013.     Fund Raiser Shoot Cancelled   Team  Operation  Combat  Cancer,  part  of  the  American  Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, had scheduled a team shoot with lunch on Saturday, April 20th in  Saint Jo. This event has been cancelled. The group apologizes for any inconvenience this may have  caused. •Commercial •Residential •New & Remodel Construction PLUMBING & SEPTIC TANK CLEANING Keith’s Plumbing •Sewer & Drain Cleaning •Gas Piping •Backhoe & Trencher State Licensed M-36097 TCEQ 22704 940-825-6828 Place your Ad here!
