Miss Jim Bowie Pageant Approaching
The 2013 Jim Bowie Days Association Queen Committee is seeking young ladies between the ages of six and nineteen years to compete in the annual Miss Jim Bowie Days and Little Miss Jim Bowie Days Queen contest. The pageant has two age groups: Little Miss, six to twelve years old and Miss Jim Bowie Days, thirteen to nineteen years old. Contestants will be judged on horsemanship, appearance, personality and ticket sales. For horsemanship, contestants will ride their own horses in a pre-selected riding pattern to showcase their riding ability. Each contestant will be questioned about their equine and horsemanship knowledge. Personal interviews will also be conducted during a private luncheon for contestants, parents and judges at a later date. They will answer impromptu questions on the topics of rodeo and current events. These interviews also allow the contestants to share their personality with the judges. The media and public are invited to attend the horsemanship portion of the pageant. It will be held at the Bowie Rodeo Arena at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28th. This year’s contest is like none before it. Prizes awarded for Queen include a 2013 CM Dakota 2 horse slant trophy trailer with floor mats and walk-in tack room. Our Little Miss will be awarded a new saddle, custom fit for her. First and Second Runner-up, Horsemanship, Appearance, Ticket Sales and Miss Congeniality will win valuable gifts as well. Coronation will take place prior to the Saturday night performance on June 29th. The primary role of Miss Jim Bowie Days and Little Miss Jim Bowie Days is to promote the sport of rodeo and the community of Bowie. For more information about the pageant and to print out an application, please visit the website at www.jimbowiedays. org. Applications will be accepted until June 1, 2013.
