EQUITANA
Phew, what an issue and what a year!
As we complete this magazine our bags are
packed as we are virtually heading direct from the
printers to the airport and Equitana Melbourne.
Despite the early deadline and rush to complete
everything we are certainly looking forward to
the opportunity of catching up with thousands
of our readers at Equitana Melbourne, chatting,
relaxing and enjoying this total equestrian
experience once again. Highlights of the event
will be completed while we are away and
included in this issue on page 36...but if there
are three blank pages then something went
terribly wrong with the technology!!!
With Christmas now mere weeks away we are
hanging out for the opportunity of additional
`horse' time..... maybe some beach work and
long relaxing rides.
For those of you not yet organised with your
Christmas shopping, or looking to drop some
not-so-subtle hints about what you would really
like for Christmas, be sure to check out the gift
suggestions on page 54 and the diverse range
of books that are out just in time for Christmas.
A BUSY YEAR
With the excitement of the Olympics and
Paralympics, preparing for Equitana, creating a
new web site and the launch of the e-magazine
earlier this year it has been a big 2012 for
the Hoofbeats team. The two week break that
most of the team will be taking from December
18th will be a welcome opportunity to recharge
batteries and, while New Year resolutions may
include working on a better work/life balance
to allow for more riding and leisure time, we
are committed to presenting the best articles
possible for readers in 2013, so it will be all
hands on deck for the January deadline for the
February/March issue.
Fresh ideas have already been thrown around
as plans for 2013 come together with readers'
suggestions forming the basis for a number of
upcoming articles. Do let us know any topics you
may want covered so these can be included.
While we were communicating with readers
even before social media became popular, the
social media sites now make it so easy and it is
an effective means of two-way communication
in a medium that is popular across all our
demographics.
If you haven't yet joined our Facebook friends,
please do so to keep up to date with news,
competitions, e-previews, readers comments
and photos and, importantly over the next couple
of months, to see a sample of entries that we
will feature in the lead up to the announcement
of the 2013 Foal Brag competition winners. With
great prizes on offer from Kentucky Equine
Research for the three category winners, we will
also have a prize for the foal photo with the most
facebook shares so be sure to like our page and
check out featured entries.
We wish all readers, contributors and
advertisers a very Merry Christmas and a safe
and prosperous New Year.
