D
eveloping a relocation plan for horses
is something all horse owners could be
well advised to consider, especially as a
re-housing or re-homing plan could be utilised
for a number of situations. When unexpected
developments occur, such as illness, an accident
or personal crisis such as a flood, bushfire, or
even a divorce, having an emergency plan for the
temporary care of a horse or horses can decrease
the stress and worry while the crisis is dealt with.
Other situations could include horse owners just
needing a break, short or long term, from the day
to day care of their horses, or it may get to a stage
where they can no longer care for the horses but
would like to see them well looked after, for the
rest of their lives.
Friends and family often have wonderful and
caring intentions, but the reality is that they
may not have the same interest or knowledge of
horses, or the skills, to be able to care for them
appropriately.
