players' choice of red shirts for the
1976 Davis Cup final between
Italy and Chile. At the time,
Chile's political parties were
represented by the colors
red and black--the latter
the shade of then-dictator
Augusto Pinochet's party.

tournament--which
netted Italy its first-ever
Davis Cup title--and
player Adraino Panatta's
personal philosophies
about sports, life, and
