The National Volunteer Fire Council (NFVC) is a non-profit membership association which was formed in
1976 to provide volunteers access to national policy making arenas. Since that time, the Council has grown
to include representation in 49 state firefighters associations, individual firefighters, fire departments and
corporate members. The NVFC is the voice of the volunteer fire and emergency services in Washington,
DC. Monitoring developments on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies, the NVFC keeps its members
informed. The NVFC is the volunteer fire service's representative on numerous national and international
committees and organizations. NVFC also offers its members benefits which include special access to our
homepage, (http://www.nvfc.org), a monthly newsletter, free leadership seminars, a life insurance policy
and special programs like 1-800-FIRE-LINE. To become an active member or to learn more about NVFC,
