Some faces you see at Prairie on a regular
basis - Mrs. Benes in the Middle School,
Mrs. Fairbanks in the Dining Room and
Mr. Schafer in the Primary School gym
to name a few. You can also add Barb
Schneider to the list.
Seven years and two graduates later,
Barb has become a familiar presence on
Prairie's campus. She regularly assists Jan
Hagopian with the Book Fair in fall and
winter, where students younger than her
own children know her by name. She has
served on the Premiere planning team as the database coordinator for five years
and even volunteers the night of the event, providing her data team with delicious
food and fun gifts - all at her own expense. She has assisted with Grandparents'
Day, Fall Fest, Gingerbread House decorating and Faculty/Staff Appreciation week,
served as a Communication Rep for the Upper School, sewn costumes for numerous
theater performances and lends her artistic talents to other areas of the school.
What is most impressive about Barb is not the time she spends on campus, but
her humble spirit. She gives back because she wants to and seeks no praise in
return. When she's not at Prairie, Barb shares her hours with countless others. She is
currently the treasurer for Vittoria Colonna, taught religious education for 17 years,
and served as a Girl Scout leader for 13 years. She's a tutor, seamstress, baker, party
planner and fundraiser. She approaches every task with a "can do" attitude, and
finds the best in every situation.
While Barb officially became an alumni parent after the 2013-2014 school year, she
is still looking for ways to give back to Prairie - and we'll always be glad to see her
smiling face in the halls.
