Presentation title: Applications of Repair and Protection Methods for Reinforced Concrete
Dr James Aldred
has over 30 years' experience in the concrete industry in Australia, Asia, the Middle
East and the United Kingdom. His background includes Technical Director of an international
admixtures company, Manager of the High Performance Concrete Research Group at the National
University of Singapore, Technical Manager of Taywood Engineering and Honorary Research Fellow
at Imperial College. He was the Independent Verifier for
the Burj Khalifa in Dubai which is the world's
tallest tower. James is currently Technical Director with AECOM and an Adjunct Associate Professor
with the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales.
James obtained his PhD from Curtin University. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of
Engineers Australia. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and the Institute of Concrete Technology as well as
being a LEED Accredited Professional. Dr Aldred has received the Award of Excellence from Concrete Institute of Australia
and Award for outstanding and sustained contributions to concrete technology by ACI International Conferences and the
prestigious George Stephenson Medal from Institute of Civil Engineers.

the shoes of his clients. His knowledge of construction from the ground
up adds a unique dimension to his understanding of the industry and
informs Marty's insight and ability to communicate with his clients on a
technical as well as legal level. Approachable, personable and
committed to his clients' interests, Marty represents some of Australia's
largest developers, contractors, subcontractors and consultants on all
construction and related legal matters spanning front-end to back-end,
including contract drafting, negotiation and administration, claims advice
and dispute resolution across most jurisdictions throughout Australia. A former builder and in-house General Counsel of
a leading contractor, Marty has extensive first-hand experience on all aspects of construction and contracting issues,
including on residential, retail, commercial, industrial and community projects.
