Their vision led to an event called “Hymns for the Hungry,” which includes all surrounding churches/organizations to share their love with others through music. The FUMC’s Outreach Team decided to try something new this year. Why not ask different churches each year to “host” this event? The plan worked! Bowie’s Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, located at 2998-TX 59, will be our 1st host! This event will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Who can help? YOU can! Each church or organization that would like to participate needs to plan for 2-3 songs, share in donating the food and drinks that will be served, and provide a couple of cakes for a live auction. “Meal deals” of a hot dog, chips, and drink will be served for $5.00. Donations will be taken for dessert. Admission fee is $1.00 per person. ALL proceeds will go directly to “God’s Table,” which is an outreach provided by First Free Will Baptist Church. This outreach feeds approximately 25-40 people 6 days a week! Please decide to join this event. You will leave feeling the love and joy that only God can provide. If your church has a service on Wednesday, let this event be your “church” for just this one Wednesday. For more information or to sign your church up, please call or text Jarae Scruggs @ 940-841-1212. You may also call the FUMC office directly at 940-872-3384. The first few verses of Mark chapter 3 tell an encouraging story. It’s about a man whose right hand was withered. Jesus healed this man on the Sabbath Day, and events of that nature generally upset the religious leaders of that time. But that’s not what I want you to see right now. Let’s notice something else about this story. Jesus asked the man to stand up, and then He said to him, “Stretch forth thine hand.” There was a crowd standing by and watching. This man could have been ashamed of his condition and opted to stretch forth his good hand to Jesus because he didn’t want anyone else to see his withered hand. But the reality of his need caused him to stretch forth that which was withered, that which desperately needed help. His decision paid great dividends! He stretched forth the withered hand to Jesus, and it was restored to wholeness. All of us may have something in our lives that has been withered for some reason. Pride and shame would cause us to hide these things from others. But when you are in the presence of Jesus, you can stretch forth the withered things of your life and trust Him with them! What has been withered in your life? What things in your life need to be made whole? You can look unto Jesus and know that He can heal the withered things of your life!
