The Shopper Thursday, June 29, 2017 19 Join Us For A Children’s Neighborhoo d Saturday, July 8th 9 AM - 12 PM Visiting in Vashti VBS Children going into Kindergarten - 5th Grade First United Methodist Church Bowie 1515 Jefferson St. Church office 940-872-3384 by Bruce Specht (Behind Dollar General) Hello Friends! The saying for the week is: “Travel is broadening , but not nearly so much as chocolate cake, whipped cream and such.“ Kayla’s days in Italy are quickly drawing to a close. She will be arriving back in DFW next Saturday and Shelley and I will be anxiously awaiting her return. She has filled up our inbox with dozens of photos of all the fascinating places she has been seeing these past weeks. Between the museums and artisans shops she has visited she has seen about all the various craft houses Italy has to offer. From Leather works. Mask Shops. Glass and Fashion Houses she has been immersed in Italian fashion and history. Seven weeks seems like a long time to be in a foreign study program but it has literally flown by for her and us. It must be close to the Forth of July as every empty lot now houses a portable fireworks stand hawking their wares. Does anyone actually know what the real cost of buying fireworks is? It seems every stand I see has their fireworks at fifty percent off or buy three get the forth free signs plastered outside. I guess it is like buying a car or a ticket to fly to New York, you just don’t ever know until you actually hand over your money. The rain returned on Friday night leaving the rain gauge filled again. It seems to be making a difference in the yard and I am trying to keep up with the effort to keep it all under control. A few cooler days would be a blessing at this point but I don’t see that happening until September now. On a brighter note the trumpet vine climbing up the old home place is in full bloom and the hummingbirds must be feasting every day on the mass of blooms. Next up to come in season is the Canna Lillies that we received from Sis Trout several years ago. Their bright red blooms are just beginning to sprout out. We are looking forward to the large plumes that will follow. The Denson’s project that is underway made a lot of progress this week . The stacks of rock are quickly taking form around the exterior walls. It is wonderful seeing a home being cased in the natural stone that once dominated the exterior finish of so many Vashti residences. Knowing David and Debbie I am sure it will look absolutely outstanding when the job is completed. The Tuesday Night All Acoustic Music Jam at the Center continues to be well attended. If you either sing or play an acoustic instrument you are invited to join in too. Even if you are only just a fan of great gospel/country music you will want to drop in and enjoy the talented folks sharing their gift of music. If you have not attended, take this as a personal invite for you to come and spend the evening participating or just listening. This is always a good time of food and fellowship beginning at 6:30 - 9:00 each week. Donations are accepted. Now you can't beat that price for an evenings entertainment. I have a new third cousin with the birth of Mary and Tyler Smiths baby girl on Saturday in Austin. Joe Weldon sent word that Mary and Tyler had finally put a name to this little angel. She is Clio Wren Specht-Smith. Remember that little Wren arrived five weeks early so they had not decided on a name before she made an early appearance. I would ask for your prayers for this granddaughter since she will be in the hospital for several weeks. Congratulations Mary and Tyler on your first addition to your family. As Joe shared via email; All’s right with the world. In other prayers this week please also remember Debra Carner, Dane Lancaster, Gary Ferguson, Jeffrey Padgett, Ava Lawson, Josie Wise, Kay and Earnest Perkins, Grover Watkins, Dewey Staley, Sue Phillips, Wanda Molsbee, Trey Spivey, JoAnn Spivey, Betty Jo Hatfield, Bill Bartlett, B.J. Tate, Garrett Nunn, and Philip Lawson. Please remember to keep Tyler Galligher and all those from our area actively serving in the military at this time. 580-228-2353 Cattle Sale EVERY Tuesday • 9:00 am Cattle Commission: $15 per head Bulls Over 900 lbs.: $30 per head Available 24/7 to receive cattle Consign cattle EARLY for advertising purposes For more information contact George & Jo Williams, Owners Mike Petit, Livestock Manager • 940-631-6003 Anita Martin, Office Manager 203 S.
