Caleb Miller and Trent Walker represented Montague County Farm Bureau at Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) 54th annual Youth Leadership Conference (YLC). “YLC is more than a conference or camp,” Dwight Siebman, Montague County Farm Bureau president, said. “It’s a great opportunity for students to hone the skills needed to fulfill their dreams” Students who attend YLC engage in goal-setting activities that help build character, confidence and leadership skills. “Counselors and speakers at YLC encourage and inspire students to network and examine their ideas, attributes and abilities, “Siebman said. “The students also learn about the free enterprise system that makes our country so great.” YLC is open to high school juniors and seniors of good character anda re in the top 30 perfect of their class. Those who attend YLC are eligible to enter TFB’s Free Enterprise Speech Contest for a chance at college scholarships. The conference was held June 12-16 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Packer cows were $2 to $4 higher. Packer bulls were $3 to $5 higher. The replacement bred cows and pairs were steady with a good demand. Market on steers and heifers weighing 600# and under were $6 to $12 higher. Feeder steers, bulls & heifers weighing over 600# were $5 to $10 higher. We had a good market today due to the board being up the limit.
