Brown Box Theatre Returns With Shows
BERLIN – The Brown Box Theatre Project’s 3rd Annual Free Shakespeare at the Beach tour will wind its way around Delmarva in September, stopping to perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream for area schools and local communities. Shakespeare at the Beach is the flagship production of Brown Box Theatre Project, a non-profit theater collaborative founded in 2010 by Eastern Shore native Kyler Taustin with the goal of enlivening the region’s theatre scene by bringing the performing arts to audiences who ordinarily lack access to live theater. “We are thrilled to be expanding to so many new communities this year,” said Taustin, who serves as the show’s director. “Midsummer is Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy, and I’m confident that it will entertain and inspire audiences of all ages.” Along with the 12 free public performances, Brown Box will visit five Worcester and Wicomico county schools where students will be introduced to Shakespeare's most beloved comedy the way it was meant to be experienced – as live theater. Following the school performances, Brown Box will hold workshops with students to supplement the show and give them the opportunity to explore the text. This year Brown Box will also be holding three public workshops for youth and adults at the Worcester Public Library in Ocean Pines and the Lewes Public Library. For more information, visit www.BrownBoxTheatre.org. The tour’s expansion is made possible in part by grants from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Worcester County Arts Council, Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, Talbot County Arts Council and Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation. “We’re extremely grateful for the support of all our grantors,” said Taustin. “It’s wonderful to have partners in our mission to promote the area art scene.”
