Lung Screening Program
The Lung Screening Program is offered to eligible patients for a low fee.
The program includes a Low-Dose CT scan, reviewing of the scan by an
interventional radiologist, use of our Nurse Navigator, and participation in our
tobacco cessation program, which is a key component of this program.
Each positive finding will be reviewed by an Oncologist, Pulmonologist, Thoracic
Surgeon, Radiologist and Pathologist. Together this team will review images and
make recommendations for your follow-up care.
Studies have shown Low-Dose CT scans find tumors early when they are much
more likely to be cured. Additionally, participation in this program can decrease
mortality rates of other non-cancerous conditions, such as coronary artery
disease, aneurysms, and adrenal masses.
Eligibility for participation:
· Ages 55 - 74
· Current smoker or quit within
the last 15 years
· Equivalent 30 pack-years*
· No history of lung cancer
* pack-years = average number of
cigarettes smoked per day multiplied
by the number of years a person has
smoked.
2 packs/day X 15 years = 30 pack-year
4 packs/day X 10 years = 40 pack-year
