New funds created at SVCF
in 2012, a record high.
In 2012, SVCF received more contributions than in any previous
year in our history, a record $993 million. That's new charitable
capital that will benefit worthy causes in our local community,
across the country and around the world.
Part of that stellar increase was thanks to the nearly $500 million
from Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. But even without
his incredibly generous gift, new contributions to the community
foundation in 2012 would have broken our previous record of
$471 million, set in 2011. We continue to enjoy a diversity of gift
sources from private foundations, estates, corporations and
nonprofit organizations.
Bequests, charitable remainder trusts, life estates and outright
gifts to the endowment provide an important source of permanent
charitable capital that helps meet the needs of our community today
and for years to come. For more information about our endowment,

This growth would not have been possible without our many partners,
including financial advisors, attorneys, accountants, nonprofit
organizations, corporations and individuals in our community. We
deeply appreciate that commitment to philanthropy and their
confidence in SVCF as an effective steward and partner.
