OC VFW House Chairman Bob Shiffner and Chaplain John Pohlman were proud of the job well done by Bonnie Shiffner in decorating the post for participation in the Paint the Town Pink Contest during Susan G. Komen’s Race For a Cure Weekend. One of the artists featured at the Taste of the Arts Exhibit and Sale was Ron Michaels, with wife Priscilla, showing off his photograph “Family Portrait.” U.S. Marine Corps League 1st State Detachment volunteers Bob Deickman and Henry Albert filled in at the VFW beer tent during this year’s Springfest on Saturday Afternoon. Worcester County Library Foundation’s Kelly Emory and Worcester County Arts Council Board member Nancy Howard welcomed attendees to the Taste of the Arts event. Providing a variety of tasty treats for sampling at the Taste of the Arts affair last month were Kiarra Kelley and Jonathon Bisset of the Jim Tawes Culinary Arts School. Hats off to Captain’s Galley restaurant owner Dew Hansen and manager Melissa Bunting for hosting a wonderful May Downtown Association After Dark last week. Keeping things running smoothly in the front of the house during the VFW Post 8296 weekly Saturday breakfast were Deborah Shell and Jessica Yohn who served and cleared tables.
