Käthe Kruse dolls collections Special exhibition to mark the 20th anniversary of the Käthe Kruse Doll Museum Donauwörth takes place from 4th May to 8 September 2013 in Donauwörth Käthe Kruse Doll Museum in Germany. The exhibition illustrates the different motifs of collecting the special dolls made in the factory of Käthe Kruse. Made with the highest level of craftsmanship these dolls are not only beloved toys, but also pieces that enrich many private collections and museums. The exhibition examines the background of collecting, showing individual private collections and explaining the development of the collection of Donauwörther Käthe Kruse Doll Museum. The beginning is marked by the large donation of the last owner of the company from the family Kruse, Heinz Kruse and Hanne Adler, in 1988 and extends to the recent acquisitions and donations. Guests can enjoy many background stories and historical facts about Käthe Kruse dolls and admire several rare dolls on display. In a split second and one simple mistake, my hand rolled into the machine and got crushed, it was traumatic and scary. Our President heard the news, rushed to the factory and immediately drove me to the hospital and straight into surgery. My husband was a bit smaller than me, so our president helped to carry me up to the operation table. Even though under anaesthetic, I did not sleep at all during the two-hours’ surgery, to be honest, I was afraid I would not wake up. Ten months later, when I returned to the production line and faced the machines again, strangely, I didn’ t have fear at all, instead, I was looking forward to going back to where I used to work. What should I be afraid of? Wound is in the hand, yet my heart was warmed up. See, today when I count, I have been working with Hape for 17 years. (Photographer: Fox Li) A proposal over cost control, process optimization and even generating great economic benefit often lies in tiny things. To improve every day is our aim! Communication ▲ before improvement ▲ Crease Mark Hape Crease Mark, Efficiency Movement In the purchasing department we use PET (Polyethylene terephthalate), which is an adhesive used on stickers that we stick to our product to make it look nicer, and label the product. In this process there is a lot of hand work involved that takes a long time. The inaccuracy made by this hand-work is difficult to adjust. Solution: After having communicated with the supplier, a simple crease mark was added to the plastic without generating any further cost. Now, the workers can align the stickers with the crease marks to not only make the finished package look nicer but this also raised efficiency a great deal. 9
