SpecIal evenTS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Golf outing “Raisin’ some green on the green” was the mantra for the IUSO Alumni Association Board’s annual Optometry Alumni Golf Scramble on Sept. 29, 2013. The Board elected to raise funds for the newly established IUSO Optometry Alumni Scholarship, and a golf outing was chosen as the ideal event. The scramble was held at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Ind. Golfers were treated to 18 holes of golf on the same course that hosts the annual IHSAA golf championships. Ted Bishop, current president of the PGA, was on hand to start the event and help with scoring at the end of the day. Twelve teams participated in the outing with students, alumni and friends traveling from far and wide to play. Two classmates from the class of 1975 made the drive from central Kentucky for the event. The winning team, comprised of two IUSO alumni, Dr. Michael Fagin, BA’88, OD’92, and Dr. Colin Christie, OD’09, took home the grand prize—four basketballs signed by men’s basketball coach Tom Crean. There were many prizes, and everyone got to take home IU gear.
