I want to put the spotlight
on a teacher at BES that is also
doing everything she can to
help raise money for charities
and for student scholarships!
Mrs. Jill Hunt is a kindergarten
teacher at BES and also in the
lineup for Dancing To The Stars
coming to Bowie on November
4th. One of my favorite things
about Mrs. Hunt is she is a
team player and wants to do
everything in the best interest of
her students. Walking into her
room, you might see students
working in literacy centers,
small group instruction, Mrs.
Hunt working with guided
reading
groups,
student
exploring with exciting science
activities, students challenging
themselves with math concepts,
or even getting the wiggles out
with a little dance break! She
collaborates with her team to
ensure student expectations are
the same across the board and
we do not lower the bar for
any of our kiddos. Mrs. Hunt
is a joy to have at BES and her
students love walking into K7,
so they can begin their daily
adventure. Mrs. Hunt you are
just AWESOME!!!
I also wanted to highlight
a teacher who continuously
strives to challenge her students
to achieve their goals and
exceed expectations. She is a
team player and is willing to do
whatever is in the best interest
of the students as a whole. This
week's spotlight is on Ms. Dana
Moeller. She is a second grade
teacher at Bowie Elementary
School, oversees our gifted
and talented program, and is a
member of our ASOT team. Ms.
Moeller inspires her students to
desire excellence and escape the
realm of complacency. While
this may appear to be an easy
task, it requires exceptional
planning and a constant
uncomfortable feeling. Ms.
Moeller accepts this task and
challenge as an opportunity to
grow as an educator and provide
the most suitable environment
for her students to maximize
their potential. I always look
forward to the opportunity to
step foot in her classroom,
so that I can be a part of the
learning process that is taking
place. Ms. Moeller knows
how to foster relationships
with her students and to meet
them where they are in life.
Understanding what each child
needs is sometimes the most
consuming component of an
educator's career, but also the
most rewarding. BES is blessed
to have an exceptional educator
as Ms. Moeller on staff . She is
a proud Bowie Jackrabbit and
just AWESOME!
For para, I want to focus
on an individual who has
the privilege of serving sixty
students every day! These
students range in age from 3 to
4 years old and defi nitely keep
her busy all day long. Mrs.
Callie Byler is a tremendous
asset to our PreK program at
BES. As a matter of fact, we
could not function without her
selfl ess and servant minded
attitude she exhibits at school
all day long. Whether she is
helping students with personal
care, conducting small groups,
leading centers, working one
on one, assisting at recess or
lunch duty, making copies or
laminating, or just sitting by
a student to calm them down
for rest time, Mrs. Byler does
it all! Many have the wrong
impression of what PreK does
all day long. I can tell you
that Mrs. Byler along with
our fantastic group of ladies
down in the PreK wing do not
have a single moment of down
time. They invest every minute
of their day in the growth and
development of our future. It is
my privilege to say that I work
with an amazing PreK para that
is willing to do what is best for
kids at BES. Mrs. Byler you are
AWESOME!
Another excellent para I
would like to share with you
all this week is one of the most
patient, kind, and devoted
ladies on campus. Mrs. Delores
Weatherly serves in various
capacities on our campus every
day. She begins her day in
the cafeteria monitoring our
students as they prepare to head
to their classrooms. After that
responsibility, she heads to the
PreK classrooms to support
centers and beginning of the day
learning activities. The majority
of Mrs. Weatherly's day is then
spent serving special education
students in an inclusion or
resource setting. She ends her
day back in the cafeteria where
it began, but this time she is
assisting our bus students as
they prepare for their ride home.
The spontaneity of her day
defi nitely keeps her on her toes
and to expect the unexpected. I
had another staff member come
up to me this week and say that
"we need to spotlight on Mrs.
Weatherly this week for the
weekly update". They went on
to mention that her attitude and
passion to serve is incredible
and I could not agree more! Her
level of patience and persistence
when working with students is
exactly what it takes to support
and guide them to reach their
goals. We are encouraged
daily by Mrs. Weatherly's
smile and positive attitude.
Thank you Mrs. Weatherly for
choosing to serve at BES and
for being AWESOME! - Steven
