Marie Stouder loved life. Each day - the people, the work, the family, the friends, the worship, the ballgame – whatever the day held in store – she enjoyed it. As a young girl, Marie moved with her family from her birthplace of Collinsville to Nocona. An adamant believer, Marie was a faithful member of the Nocona church of Christ from the time she was baptized at age 12. After graduating high school, Marie enjoyed working and spending time with her many friends. On March 7, 1934, she married Glenn Stouder, and that day they moved into the small weaning house across the driveway from the Stouder family home where Glenn was born. Marie never met a stranger, and she developed many long and loyal friendships in her lifetime. Nocona was always home and rarely did anyone have a conversation with her without hearing about her life and friends there. Along with good deeds and good dishes, she may be remembered best for her pink divinity…as a recipient of her signature treat, you could count yourself someone special to her. A talented seamstress, Marie spent time at her machine for almost as long as she lived, making or altering all her own clothes. After 17 years with Justin Leather Goods, she thoroughly enjoyed doing public alterations in her “retirement” for many more years. She was also active in the community and would attend city meetings to express her opinions, occasionally having her comments reported in The Nocona News. After 71 years in Nocona at 505 E. Pine, Glenn and Marie moved to Salado in 2005 to be with their son, Don, and his wife, Janice. Their grandson, Jeff, his wife, Stormy, and their children, Dean, Clay, Hailey, and Ashlyn, later moved to Salado as well. As a strong Christian matriarch, the examples Marie set of hard work, loyalty, and determination will not soon be forgotten. Orville Richard Corley...
