The saying for the week is: “Do as well as you can today, and perhaps tomorrow you can do better.” I hope that everyone had a nice time celebrating Mothers Day this past Sunday. It was a beautiful day to be out and visiting with family and taking the time to celebrate those special ladies in our lives. Even though we celebrate on only one day a year most of us remember every day how much of an impact our mother has had on our lives. God Bless every mother whether biological, adoptive or foster in the coming year. Kayla set off on her overseas adventure on Wednesday morning with her first of three flights when she left DFW. After catching her first flight to Houston she was on her way across the Atlantic on the second by that afternoon. Somewhere around three a.m. Texas time she was landing in London to receive some additional orientation and some time touring around the town. Shelley was receiving photos by the next evening of her visiting Sherlock Holmes noted address of 221B Baker Street as she donned Sherlock’s infamous hat and chatted with one of the constables on hand. By Saturday she had again taken the third and final hop of her travels by flying to Pisa, Italy where they boarded buses for the last leg to Florence. Her studies will take place in Florence over the next seven weeks. Shelley and I are having to get accustomed to the time difference in that Florence is seven hours ahead of us here in Texas. Just as we are headed to bed Kayla is already up and starting her day a half world away. The mail brings with it new graduation announcements with each passing day. Nothing can make you feel older than receiving another notice of a child you saw come into the world finishing his or her high school education. Where does the time go? I just have to say how proud I am of all these young students have accomplished in such a short time. Best of luck to all those that are on the brink of the next step in their lives whether that is entering the workforce or continuing their studies. The world will challenge you at every turn but I know you are up to the challenge. Go ahead and mark your calendar for next months potluck at the Community Center. The June Potluck will take place on the 12th starting at 6:30 p.m. If you haven’t made it to a potluck you are missing out on a wonderful evening of great food and fellowship with your neighbors. Hope to see you there neighbor! In other prayers this week please also remember Kathy Middleton, Debra Carner, Dane Lancaster, Gary Ferguson, Jeffrey Padgett, Ava Lawson, Josie Wise, Kay and Earnest Perkins, Grover Watkins, Dewey Staley, Sue Phillips, Wanda Molsbee, Trey Spivey, JoAnn Spivey, Betty Jo Hatfield, Bill Bartlett, B.J.
