Markus Hirche started at the
Hape design office in Reutlingen
in 2001, Germany. He developed
a new role play world of Woody
Click and series of Smart Living.
He also has had a great
experience to work with bamboo. "It is a big challenge
for a toy designer to work with such traditional and
futuristic material," Markus said. "Working with Hape
bamboo manufacturing to discover the high-tech
natural material is very interesting to me." To catch the
natural advantage of bamboo and to create new toy
ideas is a kind of a biological development. At that time
Markus visited some kindergartens to get the items tested
with children, the direct feedback from the children
have enabled him to optimize the design as well as
manufacturing process.
The Bamboo Sunshine Dollhouse is the first
dollhouse to offer children eco-friendly
material combined with
contemporary designs and modern
technology, satisfying both a parent's
interest in green products and a child's
fascination with role play. The adjustable,
fully-operational solar panel absorbs light energy which
powers five LED lights to brighten three rooms in the
house. Cool, isn't it?
In order to keep wooden toys in
a future kid's room, Markus also
worked with innovative material -
fasal, a combination of solid
wood and wood dust. The
injectable wooden material
allows for more detail and makes
wooden toys more playful and tender to the touch.
"I like to create toys for future generations in an
environmentally-friendly and responsible way." Markus said.
Pallina is a game of strategy created
by bamboo in a traditional way. You
need a very sensitive touch and
thoughtful strategy when pulling out these
sticks. It is one of his designs that he is proud of and it has
won Creative Child 2009 Preferred Choice Award.
Later Markus was honored to work as mentor with
excellent international students of academies of design,
to guide and motivate the students to work with new
innovative bamboo materials.
Wooden toys are not `electric toys!', and are not directly
exciting, so Markus followed the style guide of "Smart
Living" of the Bamboo Line and designed a series of
wooden products like the gourmet kitchen, refrigerator
and all the adorable kitchen range, which have been
received by the marketplace as extremely appealing.

September 1883, Katharina Simon was
born in Wroclaw, Poland ( July 19 1968). When
she was 17 years old, the pretty young lady had
already become a famous actress. A year later
at a ball, she came across Max Kruse, a
29-year-old sculptor. A theatrical scene designer,
he was thought to be "the most handsome guy"
in Berlin, and the two fell in love.
The charm of art and the power of love ignited a
great tenderness and maternal love in this young
lady. When the first baby was born, Katharina
made a big decision to make her own doll!
Seven years later, in 1909, the two got married
and became a family with their three children.
Katharine then adopted her husband's surname
and became Käthe Kruse, a name which would
later become a well-known brand name over
the next century.
