History Girls on the Run–Chicago (GOTRC) is the second-largest chapter of Girls on the Run–International, and the only chapter of its size that has made a commitment to ensure that at least 50% of the girls served are from low-income communities. GOTRC was founded by five local women in 1999 and served 45 girls during that first year. Since then, thousands of volunteers across Chicagoland have given their time and energy to empower more than 27,000 young girls with the confidence and character they need to become strong, healthy women. This year, with 9 full-time staff, 15 devoted board members and more than 2,500 active volunteers, GOTRC served 7,287 girls at 261 sites across 6 Chicago-area counties. Running makes me laugh
