What began as a way to stay at home with my young children became a life
over these 30 years, and I am so grateful that you have supported our choice
and have believed in the amazing open pollinated flowers we have
championed. Here at Select Seeds we have unwaveringly believed that you are
our partners and our friends in this amazing journey, and I thank you.
In no lesser amount I thank all the people who have worked here, contrib-
uting their skills and valuable time and helping build our business from
scratch. Thanks Caroline and Pam (we were young mothers then), our Union
neighbors and friends Janine, Maria, Nan and Rosemary, hubby Peter and our
children, Brian and Allison and, of course, so many more.
The first catalog was a thin black and white leaflet with antique varieties of
perennial seeds. The first year I had about 50 orders in total, all from a little
classified ad in the back pages of a gardening magazine!
Today, we offer a curated collection of plants and seeds of the best varieties of
annuals, tender perennials and perennials, including many heirlooms and "best
in class" new varieties. It will continue to evolve and grow in time, I'm sure,
but I'm equally sure it will always celebrate
family, farm and flowers.
