ANNUAL REPORT TO DONORS 2013
The expansion of the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex is making great
advancements towards breaking ground.
Jim Clark, a member of the class of 1976 and Board of Trustees, announced a
challenge to the Stonehill alumni community to raise $250,000 by May 31, 2013
and he would match every dollar contributed by alumni up to $250,000. We are
happy to announce that our alumni heard the call and met the challenge.
Thank you.
In May, Stonehill Trustee Bill Devin '60 announced the Sports Complex
Expansion will bear the name, The Rev. Mark T. Cregan, C.S.C. Athletics &
Fitness Center, in honor of Stonehill's former president.
Stonehill was also the recipient of a $2 million grant from the Yawkey
Foundation to establish the Lou Gorman Pavilion. A member of the Stonehill
Class of 1953 and synonymous with the Boston Red Sox, James "Lou" Gorman
was one of the College's greatest ambassadors. The exhibition space in the
newly expanded Sports Complex will be designed to display and honor
Gorman's commitment to the Boston Red Sox and Stonehill, featuring his
sports memorabilia and highlighting his long-lasting and influential career
in baseball.
This expansion will place the College on a path to offering students an athletic
facility that will help them build strength for success in every aspect of their lives.
