Gracing the banks of the River Thames, our building has been warmly nicknamed ‘Fairyland’ because of its fairytale appearance and stunning architecture, inspired by a French château. The Royal Horseguards began life in 1884 as the National Liberal Club, offering its members a sanctuary from the rough-and-tumble of Westminster politics. Designed by Alfred Waterhouse, whose architectural legacy in London includes the Natural History Museum, it has played host to some of Britain’s greatest writers, thinkers and political leaders: the foundation stone in our cellars was laid by Sir William Gladstone, one of five Club members who went on to serve as Prime Minister.
The Royal Horseguards does not knowingly use genetically modified foods. Our suppliers have assured us this is so. Please be informed that some of our food may contain nuts or traces of nuts. Please advise our staff of any dietary requirements you may have. A 12.5% discretionary service charge is added to all restaurant and lounge bills. All prices are inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate.
