and precisely treat the tumor and spare normal tissue
surrounding it. I mentioned technology as being one
of the biggest changes over the past twenty years. The
complexity of treatment has gone up considerably since
the early days of the Tri-Cities Cancer Center. It makes
for an improved patient experience.
Aside from the eradication of cancer (something we all
want), what do you hope to see at the Cancer Center
over the next twenty years?
I love the idea of integrated cancer care like our
Breast Center Program. These efforts provide greater
coordination, collaboration and cooperation between
many cancer specialists in our region. This provides
improved patient care. It is really exciting to see the
regional cancer care programs we have just launched!
I expect we will see additional coordinated efforts on
even a bigger scale than what we are currently doing.
Anything else you would like to add?
I feel honored to have watched individuals' ideas grow
into what is the Tri-Cities Cancer Center we know and
love now. Regarding patient care, I love making people
comfortable, reassuring people that everyone here is
coming along side them to provide the best care possible.
