Western Heritage Roundup
We invite you to the 5th Annual Montague County Western Heritage Roundup on September 28th and 29th in Bowie. Your support is needed in raising funds to benefit the children of Montague County, namely the epidemic number of those suffering from abuse and neglect. Currently we are working through Child Protective Services with over 100 children, who are either in foster care or whose families are being monitored so that they too will not enter the system. We are supporting the operation of Patsy’s House Child Advocacy Center in Bowie, and providing counseling three days a week to kids at risk and in need. The weekend will be packed with fun and excitement for the entire family. This year a wonderful addition to the weekend will be the Western and Ranch Expo with vendors in the Bowie Civic Center, which sits just behind the rodeo arena. The Chuck Wagons will again be set up in Pelham Park. Other events taking place are Music and Old West Stories, the Pedal Tractor Pull for kids (ages 5-12), a sanctioned Bicycle Race, a Trail Ride, Chuck Wagon Lunch, Sheep Dog Exhibition and Pokey the Clown WRCA Jr. Ranch Rodeo. A Cowboy Church on Sunday morning will be provided. In addition, the Montague County Child Welfare Board will be hosting the “Deep in the Heart of Texas” Ranch

The
facebook. Their mom, Mary, made me do it!! I think there are a zillion ways to get to Sanger from our house. We went thru Chico, Bridgeport, Decatur and Krum on the way there, but coming back we went through Krum, Bolivar, Forestburg, and Sunset. I had no clue where I was most of the time. I just kept steering toward the west and north, but it didn’t take any longer than going. I guess I did okay. When we got home I had a ton of grasshoppers in my grill and on the front of my van. I got up this morning early and washed them all off before church. I think the whole grasshopper population of Vashti/Newport was in my radiator! I’m still looking for someone to haul off some brush and take a small tree

wouldn’t start. We were able to get help from Tandy Rater to get it started. Thank you Tandy! You’re a good guy; I don’t care what Gidget says about ya! And, in case you drove by and noticed, I spent the night at Buffalo Springs Sunday night, by myself. It was so nice and quiet and peaceful… no offense Ken. I got lots and lots of organization done to all of my scrapbook belongings. I may spend one more night soon to finish. Someday I will learn how to take only a few things to scrapbook retreats. If anyone ever wants to scrapbook, just give me a shout and we will make a date to scrap til we drop! Looks like Vashti Baptist Church is coming right along. I saw their song leader

First of all, on behalf of the Eudy family and the Rater family, thank you for your prayers and your words of support. Bodee is in the hospital again on this Sunday, September 1st and the doctors are working with him to get the fluid from around his heart. Please continue to pray for Bodee. We know God will heal him. Prayers ALWAYS work! Preach Rater is coming along, but still having a few hitches here and there. Hang in there guys! Ken and I went to Sanger on Saturday to meet with his family and celebrate his sister’s and his brother’s birthday. The restaurant wait staff sang happy birthday to Ron and Marsha to the tune of the “Chicken Dance”. I got their picture and put it on
down; I can pay you in kitties. I have plenty of those! Just take your pick between Graycee, Samantha, Orange Sherbet, Blacky, Orange Supreme, and Tiger Girl. Oh, and Old Yeller Tom Cat. They are good mousers! We went to Decatur Sunday and had a fellowship lunch, which is always fun. Jack Bankhead, Paulette Davis, and I sang “Under His Feet”. I always enjoy singing with those two. Back home Sunday night at Pleasant Mound, we had the rest of the video on Interpretations of the Bible that was produced by some Free Will Baptist Scholars. Bro. Billy and Trish were gone to celebrate their anniversary. Then Ken and I had a mishap with the hatch door of my van, and then his Mustang
yesterday and he said after the roof comes gutting it and re-doing inside. He said they weren’t frettin cuz they needed to remodel anyway. See? Sometimes God does know what HE’s doing when He sends us these storms! Wish He would send one that would straighten my tree back the other direction and leave everything else in place. Please pray for our government, our military boys/girls, our diplomats, students/teachers, Tiny/Gene Skelton, disaster victims, Joe Powell, Raymond Poirer, Mary Musgrove (back home after hospital stay), Melinda Love, L.T. Ray, Charlotte Kinsey, Marsha Reeder, Alice Brooks, Ken Jones, RAIN, Brad Fudge, McGees, Raters, Jim/Pat Mathena, Jennifer
Scott, Gail Campbell, David Potter, Patsy Berg, Stan Maxwell, Francis Dyer, Bodee Eudy (back in the hospital), Brad Rogers, Tom Miller (had a stint put in and now home), Chris Harris, Carmen, unspoken requests, and the unsaved in our community. Pray for families who need guidance in dealing with their parent’s health issues. Happy Birthday to Tandy Rater on Tuesday, and Jim Stell and Butch Fuller on Wednesday, Happy Anniversary to our pastor and his wife, Billy and Trish Waller, on Tuesday! Hope it’s the best ever! Drive Safe and watch out for the deer, wild hogs, and the vultures! Remember, I need YOUR news! Adellewest@ aol.com or 940-613-4652.
