"i have written poetry and I have
always loved poetry but I could not
believe these beautiful poems were
written by a ten-year-old. I believe Tara is
the youngest person to have a book of
poetry published."
tara uses poetry to convey her
thoughts and feelings, not so unusual for
a child. What renata believes is unusual,
is Tara's uncanny ability to naturally
recognise the elements of a poem. The
book features 30 poems, complemented
by the colourful illustrations of artist and
writer, Michelle Harris.
tara hopes to be an author and
hold writing workshops when she grows
up and says ideas for poetry will often just
"pop into her head".
her favourite poem is The Shadows.
"That was one of the most mature poems
in the book," Tara said.
renata says it is a book which will
inspire young Australian writers to achieve
their dreams. "The book is an inspiring,
uplifting, at times dark, yet enlightening
journey of a ten year old," renata said.
"Tara represents the potential of
upcoming Australian writing talent that
needs support."
ten year old poet Tara Finn discovered
dreams are possible with the launch of
her first book of captivating poetry, Nearly
Impossible Dreams, in Sydney, last month.
Tara was discovered by philanthropist
renata Cooper, founder of the social and
ethical company, Forming Circles Pty Ltd.
renata offered to finance a book of
Tara's poetry on her first reading of Tara's
writing.
"When I read her poetry, I thought, this is a
true talent," said renata.
