as a fashion stylist and adviser,
does your home reflect you?
Yes I think it does I like elegance, neutrals
and an understated style of dressing. I am
also well travelled. My surroundings reflect
this and also include a bit of mystery with
Egyptian pieces, crystals and a gorgeous
Buddha head when you first walk in. I don't
like clutter or things overdone.
when it comes to decorating the
home, what inspires you?
Art Deco, elegant lines, ancient Egypt and
the golden years of Hollywood.
what does home mean to you?
My home is a sanctuary, somewhere for
unwinding, creating dreams, moments
and memories. It is a place of tranquility
once my girls get to school...only kidding.
how long have you lived here?
I moved in when I was pregnant with my
first daughter, Ariane, 13 years ago.
what colours do you find easiest
to live with?
I am inspired by calm, muted tones
neutral shades on the walls with a soft
warm honey wooden floor and splashes of
colour. I prefer to wear neutrals adding
colour with accessories or a jacket. I
also prefer sheen to shine. I rarely wear
patterns nor do I have many patterns in
my home. Even my two puppies are cream
and caramel. Although it wasn't until I
brought them home that it occurred to
me that they blended with the décor.
what is it about your home you
love most?
I love the feel of it. I always have some
essential oils burning adding a beautiful
element to the open plan space. I also love
being greeted by my gorgeous puppies.
where do you spend the most time
at home?
As a mother, it sometimes feels like the
kitchen. I had the kitchen renovated four
years ago and convinced the builder that
I wanted a black and cream theme. He
was insisting on black and white and told
me no one ever chose the combination of
black and cream. Obviously, he had never
heard of Coco Chanel.
do you work from home? describe
the space.
I sometimes work on the laptop on the
deck overlooking the pool.
My study is a lovely room, featuring
wall-to-wall books, everything from
psychology, style, colour, image and
etiquette books to personal development,
management and biographies. I could
not live without books. I have a gorgeous
signed photo of Grace Kelly and a classic
iconic Audrey Hepburn black and white
photo as well.
favourite room?
I do love my living room for family time
as it is a lovely open space. I also love to
read, tucked upstairs in my cosy bedroom,
with lots of creams, candles, crystals, silk
cushions and a luxurious textured
doona cover.
best decorating tip?
Allow your home to radiate the colours,
styles and textures that reflect the best of
you. Decorate with what brings a smile to
your face and a sense of joy and tranquility.
do your girls decorate their own
rooms?
Yes. Ariane has One Direction posters on
the walls and they both have their "Star"
certificates on the wall above their bed I
had a star named after them when they
were born. My youngest Gabby is very
sporty and has her own "Wall of Fame" full
of medals, ribbons and certificates.
do you encourage them to have
their own sense of style?
They are very individual in their own
sense of style, which is what I encourage.
Likewise, when working with clients, I
empower them to discover their personal
sense of style.
Ariane, is already very elegant. For her
school project, Night Of the Notables, she
chose to be Coco Chanel, no input from
me, whatsoever. Gabby is a 10-years-old
tom-boy, as I was as a young girl.
describe your dream home?
It would be much the same interior
wise. As for location, I'd love to be facing
the ocean, rather than being about 15
minutes away.
